Young Innovator
Building on insights gained from our 2020-2023 Strategic Plan, Umoja recognizes the diverse needs of out-of-school youth beyond academic pathways and addresses the immense employment challenges faced by youth with or without qualifications. With UNICEF highlighting Tanzania's rapidly growing youth population, exceeding 50% of the overall 60 million, Umoja aims to empower these adolescents through a tailored approach.
Our Young Innovator Programme, launching in 2025, aims to empower young entrepreneurs and promote sustainable business growth in our community. Using a comprehensive strategy, the programme equips participants with the necessary tools, resources, and assistance to turn their concepts into thriving enterprises.
This objective will be realized through three distinct phases:
1. Ideas Incubator
An opportunity for creative exploration, collaborative group work, and discovery of effective ideas, innovations, market gaps, and alternative approaches to spark entrepreneurial concepts.
2. Bootcamp
Engage with accomplished entrepreneurs and participate in a dynamic series of workshops and expert-led sessions covering entrepreneurship, venture creation, business planning, finance, sustainable business methodologies, and market trends.
3. 1-2-1 support
Participants selected from the Bootcamp will receive one-on-one mentoring, tailored support, and access to potential grants from Umoja or connections to microfinance organizations, government institutions or banks.
