Days for Girls

Days for Girls is an International NGO that works to keep girls in school by providing menstrual health kits and education. They recognise that menstruation, STIs, and early pregnancy are significant barriers to girls completing school and ultimately to ensuring gender equality in education. Days for Girls has been supporting Umoja in building our social enterprise by lending their resources, product designs, expertise, and networks.

Braunton Caen Rotary

Braunton Caen Rotary is a small but very active club in the UK. We have been supporting Umoja for several years, enabling the establishment of a social enterprise programme “Stitching Lives Together”, and sponsoring students with their studies. Education is one of Rotary’s areas of focus, and in the UK, we employ a literacy teacher in a school in our home village which enhances and improves literacy for children who need a more intensive approach to learning. We are proud to be able to support Umoja in its work

Accounting for International Development

Accounting for International Development offers accountants from around the world the opportunity to use their skills to support a broad range of non-profit organisations globally. Volunteer assignments of between 2 weeks and 12 months, or longer permanent placements form part of an ongoing strategy to build the financial management and reporting capacity of charities in over 30 countries. The main focus of all assignments is to enhance the skills, confidence and potential of local people, enabling their organisations to deliver more effective and sustainable programmes to their many beneficiaries. Our programme is based on a long-term development strategy whereby assignments of differing length are supported by handovers from one accountant to another.

University of East Anglia

Before they founded Umoja Tanzania, Caroline Goody and Emma Wagner both studied International Development at the University of East Anglia in the UK. Current undergraduates from the School of International Development at UEA have the option of volunteering with Umoja as part of their degree.

Umoja also works with many schools, institutes and colleges in Tanzania, mainly in Arusha. These include; Arusha Modern Secondary School, Jobortunity Training Institute, The Tropical Institute, ABC Training Centre, Montessori Teacher Training College and more.
